BUILD A STRONG PLAN

  • Developing a plan to reduce the potential future tax burden in retirement of assets accumulated in tax-deferred IRA or non-qualified taxable and tax-deferred accounts, such as unwinding large capital gains positions in non-qualified accounts or preparing to deal with the tax consequences of executive compensation benefits
  • Developing a plan to start shifting the focus of investing from pure accumulation strategies to preservation and growth to prepare for eventual distribution of assets in the form of retirement income
  • Asset protection and asset location strategies to safeguard against unnecessary risk and to protect against unnecessary tax exposure
  • Making sure the proper insurances are in place and making adjustments to existing insurance, if needed, to reflect your current situation
  • Making sure the basic estate documents (will, power of attorney, living will) are in place and making updates to ensure they are not stale if they are in place
  • Late stage college planning if needed
  • Developing a plan to account for executive compensation benefits accrued (stock options, warrants, shares of restricted stock or restricted stock units)
